Monday, January 22, 2018

Havana.- Cuba and the World Food Program (WFP) have maintained strong cooperation ties, as a result of which several projects are being carried out in the Caribbean island.

WFP executives visited Cuba to evaluate the damage caused by Hurricane Irma in several regions of the country.

The WFP's actions allowed having the necessary resources immediately to acquire food and take actions to mobilize additional resources.

In addition, the WFP announced an operation to grant 5.7 million dollars to complement the food needs of 664,000 residents on the territories most affected by the hurricane for four months.

Cuban authorities distributed rice and beans from 1,606 tons of food supplied as a result of an agreement between the WFP and the government.
