Cuban Taekwondo Fighters to Seek Qualification for Regional Games

Havana.- Cuba's best taekwondo fighters will participate in the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, this year.

Sports officials pointed out that the Cuban team will compete in all 16 divisions (eight men and eight women), and as a pair in the poomse modality (imaginary combat).

The Cuban delegation will travel to Mexico (the venue of the qualifier) one or two weeks before the event to train there.

The women's team includes Glenhis Hernández (73 kg), Yania Aguirre (49 kg) and Yamicel Núñez (53 kg), all three are national champions who participated in the world championships in South Korea.

The men's team is made up of Rafael Alba (87 kg), Robelis Despaigne (+87 kg) and José Angel Cobas (87 kg).
