New Cuban Drug against Cancer on Trial
Monday, January 15, 2018

Havana.- Cuban medical experts will evaluate the results of the administration of Heberferon, a Cuban drug to treat basal cell cancer, in the country.

In that regard, the coordinators of the program to administer Heberferon in Cuba will present the results of the trials of the drug, which was developed at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB) in Havana.

At present, more than 40 Cuban medical institutions are administering Heberferon and more than 450 patients have benefited from the treatment.

The medication is injected around the lesion and, according to the treatment scheme, two types of interferon are combined to inhibit the tumor growth, and reduce or eliminate the basal cell carcinomas (BCC).

In addition, Heberferon improves the quality of life of patients suffering from the most frequent malignant skin tumors, so its administration is necessary in advanced stages of the disease.
