Cruise Tourism Gains Ground in Spain

Madrid.- Cruise tourism is gaining ground in Spain, which was visited by 8.5 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2017.

According to statistics from the sector, that number accounts for a 4.3-percent increase compared to the same period in 2016.

The major ports were Barcelona, with 2.59 million passengers and an increase of 45 percent in November.

The Balearic ports received more than two million tourists from January to November, accounting for a rise of 6.61 percent, while Las Palmas handled 985,662 cruise passengers.

In Malaga, the increase in cruise tourist arrivals was 14.3 percent, to 489,040 passengers, while in Tenerife, the number of holidaymakers increased by 5 percent and in Valencia they rose 1.2 percent.
