Renewable Energy in Eastern Holguin Province
Monday, January 8, 2018

Havana.- Authorities in the eastern Cuban province of Holguin are making better use of sources of renewable energy.

In order to achieve that goal, new eolian and solar photovoltaic parks have been built to use natural reserves of energy provided by the Sun, wind and other resources.

The short-term plan consists of building 23 solar photovoltaic parks, in addition to five eolian parks in the towns of Gibara, Banes, Jagüeyes and Río Seco, where the first measurements were made to start construction works in the next few months.

Holguin's program to boost sources of renewable energy also consists of 673 windmills that are used to extract water for the cattle-raising sector, small hydroelectric plants and some 200 furnaces that use vegetal biomass.
