Monday, January 8, 2018

Havana.- This month, Havana is hosting the exhibition "Entre Lienzos y Esculturas" (Between Canvases and Sculptures), which consists of Cuban artworks that belong to the Spanish art collector Luciano Méndez.

About 40 artworks make up the collection of Méndez, who is also a businessman and the director of Banco Sabadell in Cuba.

The exhibition contains works by the Cuban world-renowned artists Alfredo Sosabravo (1930), Manuel Mendive (1944), Pedro Pablo Oliva (1949) and Roberto Fabelo (1951), and consists of five sculptures and five canvases made by each artist.

The collection also includes artworks by Gilberto Frómeta and Finalé, as well as other artists from an intermediate generation, like Carlos Guzmán, Ernesto Rancaño and Kcho.

The exhibition, of which a catalogue containing all 40 artworks will be printed in the next few months, also involves the Cuban documentary maker and photographer Roberto Chile as an advisor.
