Havana.- Cuba's healthcare system is expanding the use of modern technology to treat cancer in order to improve people's quality of life.
In that regard, a piece of equipment called Ciclotron was installed at the Medical-Surgical Research Center (CIMEQ), in western Havana.
The apparatus is sued to produce radio-drugs to diagnose the disease using Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
The PET equipment and nuclear image by simple photon emission computerized tomography are non-invasive methods that provide functional information by measuring the capture and movement of radioactive trackers in specific targets in the tissues.
Ion Beam Applications S.A., EURONEXT is the world leading provider of proton therapy solutions to treat cancer and the supplier of the Ciclotron apparatus installed at CIMEQ.
