Cuba Consolidates Paralympic Sport

Havana.- Cuba made major achievements in Paralympic sports in several international events in 2017.

In that regard, the Caribbean island won three medals (two titles and one silver medal) that went to Suslaidy Girat in the 100-meter race, triple jump and long jump at the Deaflympics held in Turkey.

In addition, Omara Durand, Leonardo Díaz, Leinier Savón and Luis Felipe Rivero won the titles at the World Parathletics Championships in London.

The Cuban swimmer Lorenzo Pérez was the world champion in the S6 100-meter freestyle contest, in which he holds the world record and is a Paralympic gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro.

Leydi Rodríguez (weightlifting) won the silver medal in the World Championships in Mexico, and Lilisbeth Rodríguez and Yandri Larrondo won bronze medals in taekwondo.
