Havana.- The state-owned group Cubanacán will inaugurate a five-star hotel in a medium term in the eastern Cuban province of Las Tunas.
Local tourism authorities pointed out that the 300-room hotel will be built in Punta Real Covarrubias, near the Brisas Covarrubias Hotel.
The north coast of Las Tunas offers about 30 beaches with potentialities to build some 10,000 hotel rooms.
Cubanacán is establishing nine joint ventures with foreign hotel chains that will contribute 4,000 rooms in Santa María del Mar and Santa Lucía, in Havana and Camagüey, respectively.
In addition, it has consolidated relations with the Spanish chain Iberostar, which will run 650 other rooms in Santiago de Cuba, Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens) and Gibara.
