Havana.- Eastern Camagüey province has Cuba's first track covered with Polytan, a high-quality synthetic material.
The Polytan cover was installed at the Rafael Fortun Stadium, as part of a program of investments that includes the enlargement of the stands and the construction of the administration building.
The new track will host an Athletics Gala with participation of 71 members of the national team, 29 athletes from several provinces and 40 from the school and junior category.
On this occasion, competitions will take place in long and triple jump, javelin and 100-, 400- and 800 meters.
In addition, the sports careers of Yipsi Moreno, three times world champion and two times Olympic champion in the hammer, and Guillermo Martinez, javelin bronze medalist in Daegu-2011, will be acknowledged.
