Havana.- The No. 288 issue of the magazine Casa de las Americas was published by the Havana-based cultural institution of the same name, with illustrations by the Jamaican artist Jasmine Thomas-Girvan.
On this occasion, the magazine contains articles about the Cuban author Jose Lezama Lima, and by the poet and essayist Roberto Fernandez Retamar "About Desiderio Navarro, Doctor Honoris Causa at Last".
The Books section contains notes such as "Treinta y Tres Voces Proclaman a Rodolfo Walsh Imperecedero" (José Bodes Gómez), "Cepos de la Memoria, un Libro Necesario" (Reynaldo González) and "Calibán, la Bruja y la Sinrazón del Capital (Zaida Capote Cruz).
Other articles are "Salir de las Sombras" (Lirians Gordillo), "Narrativa, Poesía y Erotismo en María Toda" (José Martínez Sánchez) and "Gaitán y las Ideas Socialistas en Colombia" (Julio Antonio Fernández).
The Casa de las Americas magazine was founded in 1960 as the organ of the institution and is among the most prestigious publications in the Spanish language.
