Cuba Boosts Use of Renewable Energy Sources
Monday, November 13, 2017

Havana.- The agricultural sector in eastern Ciego de Avila province is boosting the use of renewable energy sources to reduce the cost of production.

The province has 737 windmills which are used in agriculture, cattle raising and the sugarcane sector.

The current technical availability of those generators reaches 92 percent as a result of large imports of spare parts.

It should be said that the use of this kind of energy has increased significantly worldwide, as it is non-pollutant and contributes to reducing consumption of fossil fuels.

Furthermore, water pumps powered by solar panels are used to supply water to pig and cattle farms.
