Cuban Judokas at Open World Championships in Morocco
Monday, November 13, 2017

Havana.- Four Cuban judokas will compete in the World Open Championships in Makarrech, Morocco, where male and female competitors from 28 countries will participate.

The Cuban delegation is headed by the Olympic and world champion Idalys Ortiz, and includes Eliannis Aguilar, Andy Granda and Alexis García.

Ortiz will not compete, as she will only attend the event to receive an award to acknowledge her sports career.

According to organizers, 56 judokas from 28 countries have registered in the championships, including Teddy Riner (France), world champion since Rio de Janeiro-2007 in the +100-kg division.

The women's contest will include Sarah Asahina (Japan), who leads the world ranking in the +78-kg division and won the silver medal at the world championships in Budapest-2017.
