Cuba to Participate in Paralympic Championships

Havana.- Cuba will participate in the World Swimming and Weightlifting Paralympic Championships in Mexico.

In the former, Cuba will be represented by Lorenzo Pérez, Paralympic champion in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and the Para-Pan-American Games in Toronto 2015 in the 100-meter contest in the S-6 category, as well as Juan Castillo (S-9), who finished fifth in Rio de Janeiro and first in the Toronto event in the 100-meter butterfly contest, will represent Cuba.

In the weightlifting event, Toronto gold medalist Onínger de Jesús Dreke (88 kg) and Leydis Rodríguez (41 kg), fourth and sixth places in Rio de Janeiro, respectively, will compete for Cuba.

The Cuban athletes' goal is to finish among the four top places in the world in each contest.
