Some 293 Cuban Athletes Have Qualified for Regional Games
Monday, November 6, 2017

Havana.- Some 293 Cuban athletes have qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 2018.

The latest qualified athletes were 16 judokas who won six tiles, seven silver medals and three bronze medals in the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, the men's basketball team won a silver medal and the women's team finished fourth, so they will also compete in the regional event.

The number of Cuban athletes who qualified for the Barranquilla Games is expected to increase, as qualifying tournaments in badminton, indoors and beach volleyball and table tennis will be held in 2017.

Cuba is expected to participate with about 600 athletes in the Central American and Caribbean Games and the goal is to maintain the island's first place by country since Panama in 1970.
