Boloña Publishing House to Launch Book on Matanzas
Monday, November 6, 2017

Havana.- Boloña Publishing House will launch a book on heritage containing 900 photographs that show the development of the city of Matanzas, in western Cuba.

Entitled "Matanzas en el Visor del Tiempo" (Matanzas in the Viewfinder of Time), the book contains photos by a group of artists and offers a visual tour of the evolution of the city's main neighborhoods since the 19th century.

City Curator Leonel Perez noted that the official launch of the book will take place at the Monserrate Chapel, one of the buildings included in the book.

Other pictures show the Sauto Theater, whose acoustics is similar to that of La Scala Theater in Milan; the sculpture set dedicated to Jose Marti, and the General Lacret Morlot Bridge or "La Concordia", the first cast-iron bridge built in Cuba.

In addition, the book contains vintage photos, some of which were unpublished or not widely known, from private and institutional collections in Cuba and the United States.
