Marriott Bets on Growing in Africa
Monday, October 16, 2017

London.- The group Marriott International is betting on the execution of an expansion program in Africa, where it plans to have 200 establishments by 2022.

The chain made major investments in the continent to acquire the Protea Hotel Group in 2014, and it plans to run 37,000 rooms there by 2022.

That way, the group will invest 8.5 billion dollars and will generate nearly 50,000 direct and indirect jobs when the plan is completed and all hotels are inaugurated.

Protea is one of the largest companies in the tourist sector in Africa, where it owns 116 hotels.

Marriott International is represented in 20 countries and expects to start up operations in other nations, including Benin, Botswana, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.
