Lufthansa Reports Increase in Passengers' Traffic
Monday, October 16, 2017

Berlin.- The German aeronautical group Lufthansa carried 98.4 million passengers in the first nine months of 2017.

According to experts, that result accounts for a 17.5-percent increase compared to the same period in 2016.

That trend resulted from several factors, including the expansion of the low-cost airline Eurowings, owned by Austrian Airlines, and the total acquisition of Brussels Airlines.

In addition, from January to September, the group's occupancy rate rose 2.1 percent, to 81.4 percent, compared to the same period last year.

Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines moved 73.88 million passengers (+5.8 percent) during that period, while Eurowings and Brussels Airlines handled 24.5 million passengers (+75.8 percent).
