Monday, September 18, 2017
Havana.- Bad weather conditions due to Hurricane Irma damaged 211 cultural institutions throughout Cuba.
According to authorities from the sector, among the institutions hit by the cyclone was the Lezama Lima Museum in Havana, where the sea flooded the building and damaged several documents that belonged to the author of Paradiso.
As a result, curators immediately started to desalinize the documents, which have a high cultural and historic value, to prevent their deterioration.
All 37 art instructors' schools in the country were preserved and 14 of them are already functioning.
The most affected cultural institutions in Havana were the Trompoloco Big Top, which lost its roof, and the Mella Theater, which was flooded by the sea.
