Increased Honey Production in Sancti Spiritus |

Havana.- Honey production in the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus totaled 230 tons in the first semester of 2017, 37 tons more than during the same period last year.
That result was possible thanks to emergency actions to mitigate the effects of the drought, including moving the beehives to areas of more flowering.
Sancti Spiritus is among the country's top honey producers for export, with more than 800 tons in 2016.
In addition, other products are obtained, like more than 5,100 tons of wax and 773 tons of propolis. The province has 14,125 beehives.
The processing plant in Sancti Spiritus processes nearly 70 percent of the honey obtained in Cuba, accounting for 4,900 tons last year.
