Cuban Swimmers at World Championships
Monday, July 17, 2017

Havana.- Cuban swimmers will participate in the 17th edition of the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in late July.

The Cuban delegation includes Hanser García, Luis Vega and Lázaro Vergara, who will compete in an event that will also have competitions on the open seas, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo.

García is Cuba's main swimmer. He finished seventh in the Olympic Games and will compete in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle contests.

The delegation's objective, according to experts, is to have Garcia finish among the best 16 swimmers in the world.

In the cases of Vega and Vergara, they expect to improve their personal performances in the 200- and 400-meter individual medley competition and in the 200-meter butterfly contest, respectively.
