Cuba Increases Production of Bee Honey Byproducts
Monday, June 19, 2017

Havana.- Cuba's economy is promoting the production of new byproducts obtained from bee honey to make better use of the potential of that food.

APICUBA executives pointed out that through Tecnoazúcar, a company attached to Grupo Azucarero Azcuba, they are producing honey-based candies, as well as royal jelly and propolis tablets in conjunction with the laboratory Dalmer.

The company commercializes Propomiel (honey and propolis), Panmiel (honey and pollen), Apiasmín and Propoforte (honey and royal jelly, pollen and propolis).

All those byproducts are of great importance to treat patients suffering from anemia, prostate problems and other diseases.

As an average, Cuba produces 8,000 tons of honey a year and there are plans to reach 10,000 tons this year.
