Iconic Cuban Film Restored
Monday, March 20, 2017

Havana.- Cuban specialists concluded the restoration process of the iconic feature film Strawberry and Chocolate, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío.

The film is based on the story of The Wolf, the Forest and the New Man, by the Cuban writer Senel Paz, who also authored the screenplay.

Cinema specialists on the island indicated that there is still plenty of material to be restored, with a view to recovering important movie classics.

In addition to this, the first exhibition of heritage pieces from Cuban cinema, based at the Charles Chaplin Film Gallery, is presented.

That option includes cameras, costumes, lights and shooting equipment belonging to recognized works of the cinematography in the Caribbean nation.

Among these objects is the camera that was most used to film the ICAIC news, created by the documentarist Santiago Alvarez in 1960.
