Sculptures in Las Tunas
Monday, February 27, 2017

Havana.- The province of Las Tunas, in the eastern part of the island, qualifies as the Capital of Sculpture in Cuba for the spaces dedicated to this cultural manifestation.

In this environment the Fountain of the Antilles stands out, which is a symbol of three-dimensional art for its quality and the authorship of Rita Longa.

Periodically, the most important sculptors of the country come to that territory with the commitment of contributing a work to create public spaces of the city.

The city counts in this way with works of creators such as José Antonio Díaz Peláez, Sergio Martínez, Manuel Chiong, Angel Iñigo, Juan Esnart, Herminio Escalona and Pedro Vega, among others.

Thanks to this effort, a collection of more than 300 works of small format was designed, among which are the sketches of The Ballerina (emblem of the cabaret Tropicana), by Rita Longa, and Don Quixote of America, emplaced in 23 Ave. and J street, In Havana.
