Cuban Leisure Industry Expects More Visitors

Havana.- The Cuban leisure industry expects to reach a 4 percent growth in international tourist numbers in 2017.

Last year the island captured 4.035 million vacationers and forecasts in the current period to reach 4.2 million visitors.

As part of the investment program, efforts are concentrated in first-line destinations such as Havana, Varadero, Trinidad, the Northern Keys and Holguín.

By the end of 201, there were 64,231 hotel rooms in the country and from the investments completed in 2016, they reached 66,547, to which there should be added 4,000 in the current year.

In terms of foreign investment, there are 26 joint ventures formed, of which 13 operate 5,259 rooms in establishments of four and five stars.
