Monday, December 5, 2016
Havana.- Cuban Yipsi Moreno, a specialist in hammer throwing, officially agreed to the title of this modality at Beijing's 2008 Olympic Games.
The crown of the event happened at the hands of the Cuban after confirming the doping of the champion of the event, the Belarusian Aksana Miankova.
According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, the European had won gold in the Chinese capital with a record of 76.34 meters, but tested positive in a retroactive analysis carried out with new technologies.
Moreno was second in 2008 with 75.20 meters and thus wins the only title she lacked in her career, after intervening in four editions of the Olympic Games.
It is worth mentioning that Cuba also holds three world titles (Edmonton-2001, Paris-2003 and Helsinki-2005) as well as silver metal (Osaka-2007).
