New Surgical Method in Cuban Ophthalmology

Havana.- Cuba's health system promotes ophthalmology surgical technique of phacoemulsification, used for the treatment of cataracts.

In the case of the central province of Sancti Spiritus, more than 100 people agreed and the benefits of this method.

According to experts, the technique allows effective recovery, while there is less induced astigmatism and ocular inflammation after surgery.

The aforementioned procedure requires a small incision of between 2.8 and 3.2 mm approximately, which ends with the placement of a foldable IOL.

The incision is made by ultrasound waves and the patient can resume its earlier life sooner, sine it is a highly effective technique and has less postoperative complications.
