Artificial Shrimp Breeding Encouraged in Camagüey |

Havana.- The province of Camagüey, in the eastern part of the island, hosts an international cooperation project to support artificial shrimp farming.
The initiative involves the University of the territory and that of Ghent in Belgium, for the development of sustainable improvement program of larva-culture shrimp in Cuba.
The project aims at establishing a design laboratory, control of infections in crops, implementation of spawn’s centers and organizing training courses.
The company CULTISUR expected this year about 270,000 tons of seafood.
Export and tourism are the main destinations of the species, while research supports the training of veterinary doctors in the country, the defense of doctoral and master's degrees in that specialty.
