Cuban Cycling Excels Pan American Track Event
Monday, October 17, 2016

Havana.- Cuba finished fourth in the Pan American Track Cycling Championships, based in Aguascalientes (Mexico).

The Cuban delegation, with only three competitors, won four medals (one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal), only preceded by Colombia, Mexico and Canada.

The title went to Marlies Mejías in the omnium test with 231 valid points, followed by Mexican Yarely Salazar and Colombian Yeni Lorena Colmenares, who totaled 211 and 199 points, respectively.

Mejias had already won a silver medal in the individual pursuit, in addition to those obtained by Arlenis Sierra, second in the race by points and third in the scratch.

Mejias and Iraida Garcia reached number three in the madison test, although that event was convened as a friendly match.
