Spanish Shipping Line Studies Connection between US and Cuba

Madrid.- The Spanish shipping company Balearia is studying the possibility of establishing a ferry connection between Key West (United States) and Havana (Cuba).

Company executives indicated that there is progress in contacts with the authorities of the island to formalize the said service.

Balearia considers that the most viable option is a fast ferry passenger exclusively between the south point of the peninsula of Florida, Key West (Key West) and Havana.

In that environment, the shipping company said the authorities of the island willingness to build its own terminal, with an investment of 35 million euros.

The company operates two vessels between Florida and the Bahamas, with aspirations to extend the service to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico.
