Aquaculture Encouraged in Western Cuba
Monday, September 19, 2016

Havana.- The aquaculture company in Pinar del Rio, the westernmost province of Cuba, aims to close the year with 1,700 tons of fish caught.

So far, they accumulate over 1,170 tons of species such as tench, tilapia and catfish, with possibilities to reach the expected figure before December.

To this the good technical condition of vessels adds up, plus fishing gear and the existence of material resources for repairs.

The catch is destined for the domestic market and processing for making croquettes, minced and fillets of fish species for aquaculture.

They also met with the export of 30 tons of various items, all of which helped to stabilize sales around 25 million pesos.
