Havana.- The selection of Matanzas tops the standings of the National Baseball Series, after completing the first third of the qualifiers.
The representatives of the western province accumulate a balance of 13 wins and two defeats, on the road to progress to the next stage of the tournament.
In the second position is Villa Clara, with 10 wins and three defeats, while Camagüey is fourth with the same number of victories and one more defeat.
The list includes Holguin and Ciego de Avila (9-6), Granma (8-6), Guantánamo (7-8), Industriales (6-8), Santiago de Cuba (5-8), Cienfuegos and Pinar del Río (6-9), Artemisa, Isla de la Juventud and Sancti Spiritus (5-10) and Mayabeque (3-12).
The last edition of the tournament was won by Ciego de Avila, while the squad from the western province of Pinar del Rio grabbed the runner-up.
