Cuba Promotes Coastal Areas Care
Monday, August 22, 2016

Havana.- Cuba encourages the protection of coastal areas of the country, in order to ensure care for the environment and also regulate the development of tourism.

In that direction, the western province of Matanzas, where the resort of Varadero, the main sun and beach destination in the country is located, stands out.

Precisely in that area they proceeded to remove the buildings affecting the dune, coupled with proper planting of vegetation to prevent erosion.

Also, from 1987 to 2013, 13 sand spills were made, which contributed to Varadero with 3.985 million cubic meters of sand.

Similar protection receives Playa Larga, Playa Girón and the other located on the fringe of the southern coast of Matanzas territory, with a consequent positive impact on the environment.
