Cuban Athlete Establishes National Record in the Heptathlon

Havana.- Cuban Yorgelis Rodriguez, just 21 years old, established during her participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro a national record in the heptathlon event.

Rodriguez scored the best result of her career with 6,481 points, enough to finish seventh in the five-ring tournament.

Thus, she was only surpassed by Belgium´s Nafissatou Thiam (6,810), Jessica Ennis-Hill (six thousand 775), from the UK, and Canadian Brianne Theissen-Eaton (6,653), gold, silver and bronze, in that order.

Laura was also preceded by Ikauniece-Admidina (6,617), from Latvia, German Carolin Schafer (6,540), and Katarina Johnson-Thompson (6,523), also from the UK.

In her endorsement also highlight the titles in the XVII Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015, the World Junior Championships in Barcelona 2012 and the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games 2014, based in Veracruz.
