Cuban Film The Companion at the Goya Awards

Havana.- The Cuban film The Companion, by filmmaker Pavel Giroud, will represent the island in the next edition of the Goya awards in Spain.

According to the jury responsible for selection, the movie has the ability to communicate with the viewer from a narrative story with remarkable effectiveness, humanist power and moving characters.

The film, the third of fiction in the Giroud's career, tells a story of a friendship that involves a penalized boxer played by the singer Yotuel Romero, of the music group Orishas.

In the account of the director are also films The Silly Age and Omerta, although The Companion won the screenplay for the General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE) of Spain, in 2010.

In addition, he won the award for Best Project in the Forum

Co-production Film Festival of San Sebastian (2013) and the award for Best Screenplay at the Havana Film Festival, in New York.
