New Investments in Cuban Cigar Industry |

Havana.- The Cuban economy boosts investment in the development of the cigar industry, based on the acceptance that this product has in the international market.
The measures involve the Cigar Business Group of Cuba, Tabacuba, created in 2000 to ensure the process of expansion in the sector.
Among the investments highlights those running in the Mariel Special Development Zone -situated west of Havana- for the construction of a new cigarette factory for export.
From January to May, exports reached $ 86.4 million, against a plan that considered foreign sales operations by $ 65.7 million.
Tabacuba has 40 state enterprises, three mixed (Habanos S.A., International Cubana de Tabacos SA and Brascuba S.A), a commercial company and a research institute with three stations.
