Cuban Athletes Prepare for Rio de Janeiro

The Havana.- Cuban athletes could attend the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro-2016 with 39 participants, taking into account the different classification criteria.

After the deadline to validate the brands, the island managed to add the 4x100m relay for men, with an average of 38.57 seconds.

The members of the 4x400 meters relay, finalists in Beijing in 2015 with an average of 2:59.82 minutes, are also included.

The list features the world champions Yarisley Silva (pole vault) and Denia Caballero (disk), together with Pedro Pablo Pichardo (triple jump) and Yaime Pérez (disk).

At the Olympic level, Cuba holds a balance of 10 titles, plus 14 silver medals and 16 bronze.
