Alternative Energy in Central Cuba
Monday, May 30, 2016

Havana.- The Sancti Spiritus province, in the central area of the island, has the services of a photovoltaic solar park that can provide one megawatt at peak time.

The facility has 525 solar panel modules in an area of 2.5 hectares and its implementation is an addition to the efforts made in order to raise the efficiency of electricity generation and distribution from renewable sources.

With this contribution it can save the monthly amount consumed by 105 households, equivalent to one ton of conventional fuel quantity per day.

After the park starts operating it will reduce loss of 1.06 gigawatts/hour per year for distribution and processing concepts in the area where it was installed.

In addition, solar panels use is warranted for at least two decades, which will recover the investment of 1.7 million Cuban pesos.
