Casa de las Américas Award Defines Winners

Havana.- Authors from Cuba, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay were honored at the 57 edition of the Casa de las Americas Literary Award.

The Best Story prize went to work Not a Single Voice in Heaven, by Ariel Urquiza (Argentina), while the Best Essay was From the Ashes to the Text. Andean Literatures of Sexual Dissidence in the 20th Century by Diego Falconi Trávez (Ecuador).

In turn, the Theatre category fell to the pamphlet If this is a Tragedy I'm a Bicycle, by Cuban Legna Rodriguez.

For Studies of Cultures in America, the award went to Mingas of the Word. Textually Oral-Graphics and Head Visions on Oral and Contemporary Indian Literature, by Miguel Rocha Vivas, from Colombia.

The Honorary awards went to Eduardo Langagne (Mexico), Victor Goldgel (Argentina) and Fernando Butazzoni (Uruguay).
