Diabetic Patients treated in Eastern Cuba |

Havana.- The health system in Santiago de Cuba, in the eastern side of the island, includes procedures to assist patients with diabetes.
The territory periodically holds actualization courses on diabetes care and treatment, awareness workshops, hyperglycemia conferences and hospitalization.
From January to September of this year that illness went from seventh to ninth among the 10 main causes of death in the area.
Moreover, during 2014 a rate of 41.8 per thousand diabetics was reached, as well as the lowest mortality rate in the same period.
The province has the Diabetic Care Center (CAD), which belongs to the Department of Endocrinology in Juan Bruno Zayas Hospital, counting with angiology specialists, ophthalmologists, nephrologists, neurologists, dermatologists and cardiologists.
