Cuban Commerce Promotes Electronic Transactions
Monday, November 23, 2015

Havana.- Cuba promotes the installation of point-of-sales (TPV or POS) in retail stores and other business units to facilitate operations.

According to experts in finances, the work must be completed in the first half of 2016, to achieve a higher use of magnetic cards.

At the moment 10,800 POS are enabled across the country, of which 2,300 were authorized during 2015, with a growth of 28 percent.

Along with that, the installation is planned at the central level of a new computer program, with a view to improving the existing infrastructure and offer higher quality services.

The incorporation of POS units in all stores nationwide is part of the banking policy of expanding the magnetic card service.
