Technology Has Broad Social Impact in Cuba
Monday, October 5, 2015

Havana.- The eastern province of Santiago de Cuba will benefit from a desalination plant to improve drinking water supplies.

As part of the project, the platform where the facility will be located and the necessary roads were completed in the area.

Before assembling the technology, a 14.3-kilometer pipe will be laid to supply 50 liters of water per second to the Parada dam.

The plant will use advanced technology of reverse osmosis membranes and will be the largest of its kind in service in Cuba.

Rains have been insufficient to alleviate the situation of drought in the region, where the reservoirs are at 26.8 percent of their capacity.
