Future Foreign Doctors Receive Training in Cuba

Havana.- The University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba will train medical students from 43 countries.

The institution, located in eastern Cuba, has enrolled the first students from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), as part of the scholarship plan to train physicians and specialists.

That initiative involves new students and graduate doctors who will come to Cuba to take postgraduate courses in different medical specialties.

The University of Medical Sciences has an enrollment of 580 students from 43 countries in four faculties, the largest number of medical students comes from Haiti, with 91 students in pregraduate, postgraduate and health technology courses.

In addition, there are Cuban graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana who will complete their studies in Santiago de Cuba.
