Favorable Environment for Tourism in Cuba
Monday, August 31, 2015

Havana.- The situation of tourism in Cuba shows a favorable environment, as a result of which tourist arrivals increased 15.9 percent in the first seven months of 2015.

According to predictions, more than three million foreign tourists are expected to visit the island nation this year as a result of the incentive provided by the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States.

In that regard, statistics show that 88,996 US tourists visited Cuba in the first semester of the year, so nearly 150,000 US travelers are expected to visit the country by the end of December.

In order to meet this growing demand, Cuban authorities are working on a program to increase the hotel infrastructure to 85,000 rooms by 2020, compared to 63,000 rooms at present.

In addition, Cuba has three cruise terminals, seven international marinas, 39 diving centers and international air connections with some 30 airlines.
