Cuban Destinations Gain Ground in Japan
Monday, August 24, 2015

Tokyo.- Cuba's tourist options are gaining ground in Japanese travel agencies, encouraged by the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Caribbean island and the United States.

According to Japanese media, the company JTB will increase the number of tourist packages to Cuba from five to eight in October to meet the increase in demand.

The company pointed out that Japanese tourists are interested in Old Havana, which was designated Humankind's Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

A similar trend has been reported in several programs in Cuba commercialized by the travel agencies Hankyu Travel, H.I.S., Nippon Travel and KNT. The latter organizes combined travels to Cuba and Mexico.

The Japanese companies expect strong competition to ensure accommodation to their clients, considering the growth of tourism in Cuba.
