Cuban Authorities Promote Presence of Spanish Firms
Monday, August 3, 2015

Havana.- Cuban authorities are promoting business opportunities in Spain's entrepreneurial sector, including 246 investment projects worth 8.7 billion dollars.

During a meeting with executives from several Spanish companies, Cuban officials highlighted the country's potential for tourism, which contributes to several economic sectors.

Another sector being promoted is renewable energies, from which Cuba expects to obtain nearly 24 percent of power generation by 2030 and demands 2.5 billion dollars.

Cuba offers more guarantees and incentives to investors, in addition to opportunities in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM, in Spanish), which has its own regulatory framework.

Precisely, the main investments in infrastructure are being made in the ZEDM, whose authorities have so far approved seven projects, and there are possibilities to reach 20 by the end of 2015.
