Cuban Boxers to Compete in World Qualifier in Venezuela
Monday, August 3, 2015

Havana.- Cuba will participate in the world boxing qualifier, scheduled for August in Venezuela, where its fighters will try to qualify for the World Championship.

According to experts, the event will grant five spots per division and must bring together most of the best boxers in the region, totaling 120 fighters.

Cuba has already won five slots in the World Championship through Yosbany Veitía, Lázaro Alvarez, Yasnier Toledo, Arlen López and Julio César La Cruz.

The World Championship is scheduled from October 5-18 in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and will grant places for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016, as part of a process that includes the World Series of Boxing.

In their latest international performances, Cuban boxers won six titles and four silver medals at the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada.
