Havana.- Grand Master (GM) Leinier Domínguez, Cuba's best chess player, is in the 21st position in the latest world ranking.
Domínguez has an Elo score of 2,736 points and is the leader in Latin America.
Cuban GM Lázaro Bruzón moved down from the 70th to the 87th place in the world, after losing 10 points in his Elo score, which is 2,659 points, after a discreet performance in a tournament in Hainan Danzhou, in China.
Yuniesky Quesada (2,643 points), Isam Ortiz (2,577), Juan Carlos Obregón (2,560) and Yuri González (2,550), who are in that order in the national ranking, did not play during the period.
Norwegian player Magnus Carlsen (2,853 points) tops the world ranking, followed by India's Viswanathan Anand (2,816), Bulgaria's Veselin Topalov (2,816) and US player Hikaru Nakamura (2,814).
