Museum in Central Cuba Hosts Peculiar Exhibition
Monday, August 3, 2015

Havana.- The Museum of Decorative Arts in central Villa Clara province is hosting an exhibition of lingerie that includes works that are up to two centuries old.

The exhibition shows lingerie made in the late 19th century and the early 20th century, especially pieces made in linen, rough linen and batiste.

The pieces of clothes are exhibited in 11 groups, depending on the technique used to make them, including embroidering on white, crochet, applications, openwork on cloth and lace, among others.

The wide range of works includes decorative table cloths, table cloths, napkins and pillow cases that show the style of a social class with a high purchasing power.

According to experts, all works on display were made by women, who occasionally used a sewing machine
