Tourists Spend More in Spain

Madrid.- The average expenditures of international travelers in Spain increased 8.4 percent in the first five months of 2015, compared to the same period last year.

According to sources from the sector, 22.5 million foreign tourists who visited the country from January to May spent 21.809 billion euros.

The experts noted that the average expenditures per person increased 3.1 percent, and daily expenditures grew 4.4 percent.

In May, total expenditures by international tourists rose by 11.8 percent, to 5.89 billion euros, due to an increase in arrivals and a rise in expenditures per person.

The Canary Island shared 25 percent of total expenditures, amounting to 5.419 billion euros, while Madrid reported the fastest growth, with a 14.8-percent increase.
